Really Woolly Bible Stories

This is my latest book review. I really enjoyed this book. Its for babies and toddlers but my eight year old enjoyed it too. It has Bible stories and lessons that set the foundation for life long learning of christianity. It is a board book so that even the smallest child can carry it wherever they go and "love" it for years to come! It covers stories from creation to Jesus rising to heaven. It even contains a special prayer for you and your child to recite each night. This is such a precious book, it would be perfect for baby's first Christmas or a shower gift. I would highly reccomend it to anyone who wants their children to receive God's word right from the start!

City on Our Knees

It is rare to find a book that includes so much detail about such a strong christian influence. I have always loved this song and could NOT wait to receive this book. It did not let me down! I was drawn in from the beginning! To see how much influence God has had over his life and what he has done with it is amazing. It just shows what can happen when your listening to God and obeying. Sometimes hard to do but obviously very worth it! A wonderful read and I hope you'll check it out!

Keep talking about God!

Sometimes we as parents find it difficult to express to our children aspects of the Bible. While we know and understand they want to know and understand. I am reading a book with my two boys called "Jesus Calling 365 devotions for kids" by Sarah Young and adapted by Tama Fortner. This is an awesome book! It breaks down scripture to a language that children not only understand but find entertaining. The Bible says to talk with your children about God every day and this is a great way to do that. Read to them and have them tell you what they got out of it. Try it and see!

A Christmas Prayer by Amy Parker

Only once in great while does a book like this come along.I am writing of the book "A Christmas Prayer" written by Amy Parker. Every Christmas I say the same thing, and I do not believe that I am alone when I say "My children do not remember the reason we celebrate Christmas!" It frustrates me to no end that our Lord and Savior are replaced with the "gimmes" all through the Christmas holiday. Don't get me wrong. I am all for Santa but firt and foremost this season is for Jesus and his birth. This book takes the whole story of Jesus' birth and breaks it down one step at a time for even the smallest child to understand. It says "Thank you" for every piece of the story and truly reminds us all what Christmas is REALLY supposed to be about. It should be in every church nursery and every child's book collection. It is wonderful! Don't take my word for it read it yourself!

The boy who changed the world

Its Your Life, Make It Count

I just finished reading a really terrific book by Max Lucado. He shows us that as Christians we can touch others lives so profoundly. He takes you back so that you can take a look at your life at a glance, it makes you want to do better and be better.

This book makes me want to truly be the hands and feet of Christ. If I want to touch others and show them God's love, to impact their lives for the good, God has his hand on me and puts me with the people that I can make a difference with and that is no different with our children. They can show God's love on the most pure level. The bible says that those who do not humble themselves like little children will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

This is a good read, for you and your child!

Max Lucado's Hermie & Friends: Who is in Charge Anyway?

This film has a wonderful message. The characters are fun and captivation to my children. The bugs are are cute and not scary even to my toddler. Though small, they are each capable and special. God has a plan for each of them. This shows children their own strengths and that even though they themselves are small there is a lot that they can accomplish. God has a plan for them also. I love this family and christian oriented film and so do my kids. They can learn and not even know it!!!!!

God's Promises for Boys

God's Promises for Boys
By Jack Countryman & Amy Parker

This book is such a blessing. It goes into just about every subject that young boys go through. It gives them a guide as to how God can help them through. It teaches them to lean on God and Jesus, something even the smartest adult sometimes forgets. They are given subjects from being cool, to controling their anger, all the way to their salvation and what that means to them. All this broken down into a language that is fun and engaging to children. Its guide book to life with the scripture to back it up. My eight year old has already read it. It only took me a half hour. It hooks you. Its a must have for boys!

Dave Ramsey

I have been reading "The Money Answer Book" by Dave Ramsey. He is a genious! This book is SO easy to read. I love that he doesn't go ramble on about one subject through the entire book. He actually does what the title implies and answers the questions that we all have ALL the time. Easy answers to complicated questions. Money seems to be the source of tension and a strain for many of marriages, my spouse and myself included. I always thought that the answers would be hard for me to understand and stick to, but wrong again. Step by step I believe that this book WILL lead us out of the debt. We have already begun to build our emergency fund. We have been so blessed and this book just shows how to adjust our habits to fit our budget. I love it!

If I could ask God Anything: Awesome Bible Answers For Curious Kids By: Kathryn Slattery

This book is a must have for children and parents alike. When children go their "why" stage this book will be key in getting the correct answers to your child in a manner that they can understand. It will keep you from becoming frustrated in trying to explain God and his will. This is not an easy thing to do and its very important to give the right answer the first time. To sow that seed in your child to aid their faith. I will have a copy for me and for my church's classroom. Kids want to know the ins and outs of everything. Especially what they can't see and touch. This is the perfect resource for that!

So I read this book "Rick and Bubba's Big Honkin' book of GRUB" written by Rick Burgess and Bill "Bubba" Bussey. Yea... Well I can say that there was never a more true book out there. They are not into dieting. As they say in the book "there's a reason the first three letters of the word diet are d-i-e." Isn't that the truth?! I LOVE this book there is nothing more down home than "Spam 'n' Taters". I love the "Top Tens", especially the "Top Ten Reasons Why There Will Be Potluck In Heaven"! These finger lickin' recipes will make your mouth water. This book is country eating for dummies guide. The commentary is hilarious and dead on. The recipes are some that you wouldn't even be able to pry out of your Granny. This book is the best recipe book I have EVER read!

Just got a book from Booksneeze. Its a children's book called "The flowering Cross" by Beth Ryan. Its a beautiful illustration of how God uses the weak to lead the strong. I was in tears by the end of the book. I will use it in my preschool class to illustrate Easter in a language that they'll understand. Its a story about a little girl that leads a grumpy old man to the lord. It will touch your heart. At the end of the book it even shows you how to build your own flowering cross. I want two of those. All in all, I love, love, love it!

66 Love Letters from God by Dr. Larry Crab

I just finished the book 66 Love Letters by Dr. Larry Crab. I really enjoyed it. I have always read my bible but I have to admit sometimes I could fall short of getting the meaning out of it. This is a really easy to follow guide. I needed God these last couple of weeks more than ever after losing my mother unexpectedly. To hear his words put into a letter just for me helped me to feel closer to him and that is what I am always searching for, a way to be closer to our heavenly father. This is one that I will reread a hundred times. That I can derive from what I was missing before.

Dear Momma,
I miss you more than I could ever say. I just want to have you hold me and tell its gonna be okay. You were my best friend and there is nothing that could ever fill this hole in my heart. I needed more time with you. To tell you how MUCH I love you. I can't eat. I can't sleep. Sometimes I can barely breath. I just want one more day with you. I know your in heaven and at rest but I want you here with me. You were everything to me and I don't know how to go on without you. I just don't know. Please just one more day. I could lay my head on your shoulder and you could pat my back. I just want to be with you. I'm sorry that I didn't see that something was wrong. I'm so sorry. I love you with all my heart. I can't stand this pain and emptiness I feel right now. Save a place for me in heaven and when its my time please meet me when I walk through that gate with Jesus. Your the first face I want to see. I will always love you and I will NEVER let my boys forget how much you loved them.
Love Always,
your baby

So I have been reading this new Bible called "Mom's Bible God's Wisdom for mothers" Notes by Bobby Woglemuth. This bible shows everyday examples of how to keep God in your parenting. Its a wonderful shower present and something every mother should have for every area of parenting, to be able to parent as the ultimate parent, our father God!
